Kwara govt calls on devt partners to key into SWAp Initiative

Kwara State Government, through the Ministry of Health, has called on health development partners to form a synergy, keying into its Annual Operational Plan and the State-Wide Approach (SWAp) initiative to achieve a common goal.

Dr Amina Ahmed El-Imam, the State Commissioner for Health, while making the call on Monday, Ilorin, during a Health Partners Coordination held at the Ministry headquarters, charged the development partners to work as a team to speak with one voice.

The Commissioner who spoke through the Desk Officer and Coordinator, State-Wide Approach (SWAp), Dr Abdulkadir Ola Ahmed, stressed the importance of data collation and revalidation, urging them to attach utmost importance to data collation as “nothing could be achieved without accurate and reliable data.”

According to her, the “State-Wide Approach (SWAp) initiative is a health sector renewal agreement in Nigeria, aimed at improving accountability and transparency.”

“It is an initiative that brings together government, donors, and other partners in progress to implement a common agenda.

“At the core of SWAp are the principles of ‘One Plan, One Budget, One Report, and One Conversation, to ensure that all efforts are aligned and directed towards common goals of saving lives, reducing physical and financial pains and producing health for entire Nigerians.”

In their separate remarks, the State Coordinator, World Health Organization(WHO), Dr Eyitayo Emmanuel and the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, the Society for Family Health, Mr Tijani Afeez, applauded the State Government for its efforts to ensure the collection of accurate and reliable data, across health facilities in the state.

They appealed to the government to further place a high premium on data collation within and outside the state capital, emphasising that generating accurate and reliable data is strategic to proper planning and effective management.
