Kwara Gov AbdulRazaq, Sen Saliu Mustapha, other dignitaries attend burial of Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Senator representing Kwara Central, Saliu Mustapha, joined other dignitaries and the people of Ilorin for the burial of Alhaji Ahmad Yusuf-Gobir, the Sarkin Gobir of Ilorin and Chairman of the International Aviation College, Ilorin, on Sunday morning at his family house in Gambari.

Alhaji Ahmad Yusuf-Gobir passed away on Saturday at the age of 62. His funeral prayer (Janaazah) was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Muhammad Bashir, and witnessed by a large crowd.

Religious leaders, stakeholders, and prominent sons and daughters of Ilorin offered prayers in his honor.

Earlier, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and Senator Saliu Mustapha joined other dignitaries to express their sorrow over the passing of Yusuf-Gobir in separate statements.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq said, “We submit to the will of Allah, who gives, nurtures, and takes life. We extend our deepest condolences to the people of Ilorin Emirate, particularly the family of the late titleholder, on this tragic loss.”

He described the deceased as an illustrious technocrat and administrator who oversaw a remarkable transformation of the Aviation College in a short time.

The Emir of Ilorin, in a statement by his spokesperson, Mal. Abdulaziz Arowona, described Yusuf-Gobir as a gentle and loyal traditional ruler who used his wealth of experience to foster unity within and beyond his domain.

The Turaki of Ilorin Emirate, Senator Saliu Mustapha, also in a statement by his media aide, Nasif Sholagberu expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Captain Yusuf-Gobir, describing him as a great leader whose contributions to the community and the aviation industry will be fondly remembered.

He extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, the Kwara State Government, and the entire Ilorin Emirate.

All the dignitaries prayed for strength and fortitude for the family of the late Sarkin Gobir during this difficult time.
