Kwara declares June 26 as public holiday to mark Hijrah 1447
The Kwara State government has announced a work-free day on Thursday, June 26, 2025, in celebration of the Islamic year 1447 Hijrah.
This was confirmed in a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.
“Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq extends his congratulations to the people of the state, especially the Muslims, on the new Hijrah Year, 1447 AH,” the statement reads.
In conjunction with the holiday, the governor emphasized the importance of reflecting on the significance of the Hijrah, urging the Muslim community to embrace the values of peace and harmony. “Hijrah teaches personal and collective sacrifice for good causes and abandonment of everything that is antithetical to peace, harmony, and social justice,” he noted.
The governor concluded by praying that the new Hijrah year brings goodness, increased security, and renewed faith to all families in Kwara State and across Nigeria.
