Kwara court remands 25-year-old suspected cultist

A Kwara state magistrate court, sitting in Ilorin, has remanded a twenty five year-old Lukman Suleiman, for allegedly belonging to secret cult society.

THE INFORMANT247 reports that he was dragged before Chief Magistrate Bio Salihu for criminal conspiracy and being a member of secret cult contrary to section 97 of penal code law, and section 2 punishable under section 14 of secret cult and societies (prohibition) law 2016.

The police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the defendant (Suleiman), was arrested at Gambari area, Ilorin.

Police report also disclosed that defendant is a member of dreaded Aiye confratenity and was initiated in 2017 by one Angel who is now at large.

The defendant was said to be among notorious criminal elements terrorising the people of Gambari.

The prosecutor, in his submission, prayed the court not to grant the defendant bail on the basis that the offence is not ordinarily bailable.

The court, in his short ruling, ordered the remand of the defendant while the matter was adjourned to 14th June, 2020.
