Kwara commended for exemplary compliance with UBEC guidelines
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has been commended by the Federal Government for his administration’s remarkable adherence to the regulations governing contract executions under the Universal Basic Education Board (UBEC).
During the bid opening for the 2024 FGN/UBEC/SUBEB intervention projects held in Ilorin, North Central Zonal Director for UBEC, Elder Edward Abalaka, stated, “Kwara State has been a pacesetter in the area of compliance with the necessary procedures.”
He urged contractors to execute the projects according to requirements, warning that poor execution and abandonment would not be tolerated.
A total of 258 contractors participated in bidding for projects designed to improve educational infrastructure, including the construction of classrooms, installation of solar boreholes, and provision of essential educational furniture.
Prof. Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), noted the importance of these initiatives, saying, “These projects are crucial to enhancing the learning environment and ultimately benefiting students, teachers, and communities.”
Additionally, Prof. Adaramaja announced the governor’s provision of counterpart funds for upcoming projects, and that tenders will soon be advertised in local and national newspapers.
“We expect a competitive bidding process, and we assure you that our evaluation will be transparent, fair, and compliant with procurement regulations,” he added.
Contractor representative Alhaji Maroof Ahmed praised the transparency of the bidding process, stating, “We will deliver the projects according to specifications.” The event was also attended by notable figures, including members of the Kwara House of Assembly and representatives from UBEC.
