Kwara announces vehicular restrictions as monthly sanitation holds Saturday
The Kwara state government has announced the movement restrictions for the monthly sanitation exercise for November.
The government also warned against dumping refuse on pedestrian walkways, road dividers, drainages, canals, and all other unapproved dump sites.
According to a statement by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Kamaldeen Aliagan, residents of the State are enjoined to participate in the exercise which will start from seven to ten o’clock (7:00 am to 10:00 am) in the morning by cleaning their residential and business environments.
The statement furthered that residents must clear drainages and bushes around their surroundings for health and safety reasons.
The statement, while excepting those on special duties in the three-hour exercise, added that security, monitoring agents, environmental health officers (Wole-wole) and members of the Environmental Task Force will go around to monitor and ensure compliance to sanction offenders, as may be necessary.
“Waste management trucks will also be made available for waste collection and subsequent dumping at the government-approved dump site.”
“In the same vein, any attempt to obstruct government officials from carrying out their statutory obligations will be dealt with within the ambit of the law,” the statement added.
