Kwara 2019: Youth group decry citizen apathy

A youth group, Kwara Rebirth Ambassador, as express confidence in taking charge of the state affairs in 2019.
The Coordinator of the group, Abdulrasheed Akogun, made this disclosure during the group’s courtesy call on media houses yesterday.
In his introductory remarks, the publicity secretary of the group, Amb. Ibrahim Sheriiff revealed that the need for a social, political and economic re-engineering informed the formation of the NGO, understanding the implications of the socio-political decadence that characterized Kwara state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
In a conversation with The Informant 24/7 crew, Amb. Abdulrasheed Akogun, the coordinator of the group said, “We’re now rest assured than ever before, we have the endorsement, partnership and 100% support of the vibrant fourth Estate of the realm.”
“I wasn’t surprised with total endorsement and declaration of support Kwara Rebirth Ambassadors got across board.”
“We surely know it won’t be easy, we’re however assured it will be a victorious venture.”
“We are determined and convinced beyond rethorics that Kwara is in dire need of social, Political and economic Rebirth. Wee envision a Kwara that’ll work for all Kwarans regardless of one’s economic status, background, religion or ethnicity.
“Apathy of the citizenry to governance is a causative of the current state of we are in, we’re ready to embark on a massive advocacy especially on voter education and sensitisation, community participation and development among others” he stressed.
Reacting to this, the MD/ Editor-in-chief, National Pilot Newspaper, Alh. Billy Adedamola encouraged the team to remain steadfast and resolute on the path they’ve chosen, stressing that it won’t be easy to dislodge the entrenched interests but victory is assured with sincerity of purpose and strategic engagement of relevant stakeholders which Media organisation are an integral part.
Speaking in the same vein, the General Manager, Herald Newspapers, Alh. Abdulrasaq Adebayo admonished the team to be focused and undaunted, stressing that Kwara is indeed in need of a Rebirth and total re-engineering”.
On his part, the General Manager of Unilorin FM Alh. AbdulGaniyu Durodola, expressed sadness that majority of the youths are engaged in social vices, other than servicing a means of adding value to the society.
Durodola further enjoined youths and indeed the entire citizenry to eschew apathy to governance, adding that getting involved is the only guaranteed path to bringing about a new Kwara.
