Kwankwaso’s son quits Kano cabinet amid political tension over gov’s defection

Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Kano State and son of NNPP leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has resigned from the Kano State Executive Council.

The resignation was announced in a statement released on Monday, in which Kwankwaso thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve in his administration.

“It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and member of the Kano State Executive Council,” the statement read.

He expressed deep appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in him, describing his time in office as a period of valuable learning and service to the people of Kano State.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State. I have cherished the experiences and lessons gained while serving, and I appreciate the trust placed in me,” he said.

Kwankwaso also called for sustained commitment to youth empowerment and sports development, urging the government to continue investing in the sectors.

“As I resign, I pray that the youth of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and support they deserve. I hope for the best for our sports development programmes and initiatives, and I am confident they will flourish in the years to come,” he added.

He concluded with prayers for the state and its leadership, asking for divine guidance and blessings for Kano State.

The resignation comes amid ongoing political realignments within the Kano State Government, following Governor Yusuf’s recent exit from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
