Kebbi final-year Student abducted as good samaritan shot dead during rescue attempt
In a distressing incident, the Nigerian Police Force’s Kebbi State command has confirmed the abduction of Augustine Madubiya, a 23-year-old final-year Economics student at the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi. The kidnapping occurred early Tuesday morning at Istijaba Villa, an off-campus hostel in the Unguwar Jeji area of Kalgo Local Government.
According to a statement from CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the command’s spokesman, the incident happened around 3 am when armed kidnappers invaded the hostel premises, resulting in the abduction of Madubiya.
It was gathered that during the chaos, a good Samaritan, identified as Malam Siddi Hussaini, was shot while attempting to intervene and was later pronounced dead by a medical professional.
In response to the alarming situation, the Divisional Police Officer in Kalgo quickly assembled a team of security personnel to the scene, where it was learnt that they were actively pursuing credible leads and conducting searches in nearby forest areas to facilitate the safe rescue of the kidnapped student and apprehend the perpetrators.
