Kano Gov., Abba Kabir stops salaries of 10,800 workers recruited by Ganduje

Abba Yusuf Kabir, the Kano State Governor on Monday ordered the Accountant General to stop the salaries of 10,800 workers employed by the immediate past governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

It could be recalled that prior to his emergence as the governor, he had accused Ganduje’s government of illegal employment of over 10,000 workers when it was about to leave office.

Abdulkadir Abdusalam, the state Accountant General, while addressing the newsmen in Kano, said the governor had ordered his office to expunge the workers from the state’s payroll, adding that his office would carry out investigation to ascertain the authenticity of their engagement and procedures so as to remove those illegally recruited.

Abdulsalam furthered that all Local Government workers that were converted to state workers by the former administration will continue receiving their salaries, but based on Local Government levels, while asking them to continue working in their new state’s MDAs until investigation is concluded.
