Kano: Ganduje commiserates with victims of hotel building collapse

Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the immediate past Governor of Kano State, has commiserated with the families of the victims of the halfway demolished Daula Hotel building collapse in the state.

This was contained in a statement on Friday by the former commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Kano State, Malam Muhammad Garba, saying, “The incident and the attendant death and injuries are regrettable and a huge loss to the state.”

The former governor prayed to Allah to give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss and quick recovery for the injured.

The statement also condoled with property owners who legally acquired and developed properties for business and other purposes but were destroyed by the state government in the state without any form of investigation, while expressing regrets over the theft of properties by looters from several demolished buildings in different parts of the state capital.

It could be recalled that two scavengers on Thursday lost their lives while three others sustained injury following the collapse of a part of demolished Daula hotel.

Meanwhile, the state governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has said the victims were scavengers scouting for irons or metals from the debris of the building demolished half away by the state government in a destruction spree of landed properties it embarked upon since its assumption of office on May 29.
