[Just In] Strike: FG reaches agreement with organised labour

In a bid to proffer a lasting solution to the ongoing strike action by the organised labour, the Federal Government convened a meeting with the organised Labour at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Monday evening.

According to reports, both the federal government and organised labour reached the following resolutions after exhaustive deliberation and engagement which include:

1. The President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is committed to a National Minimum Wage that is higher than N60,000;

2. Arising from the above, the Tripartite Committee is to meet every day for the next one week to arrive at an agreeable National Minimum Wage;

3. Labour in deference to the high esteem of the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s commitment in (ii) above undertakes to convene a meeting of its organs immediately to consider this commitment; and

4. No worker would be victimised as a result of the industrial action.

The Informant247 gathered that the resolution, which took place in Abuja, was signed by the representatives of the federal government, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation,  Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment and also the representatives of the Organised Labour: Joe Ajaero
President, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Festus Osifo
President, Trade Union Congress (TUC)
