Just In: Nnamdi Kanu sentenced to life imprisonment after found guilty of terrorism charges
The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of all seven-count terrorism charges
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja pronounced the judgement on Thursday after Kanu was handed convicted of Counts 4, 5 and 6 of the seven-count charges, while he was handed a 20-year jail term for Count 2.
He was earlier found guilty of charges in relation to counts one and two of the seven-count charge brought against him by the federal government.
The Judge held that the threats of violence and killings, including the declaration of sit-at-home order in the South-East States, in his many broadcasts, constituted acts of terrorism.
