2021 UTME: JAMB issues advice to candidates with incomplete registration

JAMB releases 2025 UTME results, 39,834 withheld over examination malpractices

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). During a press briefing in Abuja, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, revealed that “39,834 results remain unreleased due to suspected examination malpractices.”

Oloyede disclosed that of the more than 1.9 million candidates who took the exam, 80 individuals are currently under investigation for various offenses related to examination integrity. He noted that Anambra State leads the count of suspects with 14 cases. “We are determined to root out any form of examination malpractice,” he stated.

The registrar also highlighted alarming statistics regarding underage candidates, revealing that while 467 candidates scored above the minimum required benchmark, 50 were implicated in fraudulent practices. He remarked, “The verification process has identified several systemic vulnerabilities in registration and examination administration, particularly concerning identity and biometric fraud.”

Furthermore, the board reported that 244 candidates were caught attempting to use “WhatsApp runs” to gain unauthorized access to examination materials, leading to a hold on their results. Oloyede identified specific CBT centers involved in these fraudulent activities, confirming that sanctions would be implemented against them.

He, however, affirmed that despite challenges, the 2025 UTME has been recognized as one of the most successful in recent years while reiterating JAMB’s steadfast commitment to ensuring the credibility of the examination process.
