JAMB postpones registration for 2025 UTME till February 3
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has postponed the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration scheduled to commence Friday, January 31, 2025 (today) until Monday, February 3, to “allow the Board to implement essential adjustments to its registration templates.”
The Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, while disclosing this in a statement posted on its official X handle on Friday, said the postponement was due to the suspension of law programmes in some Nigerian universities and the approval of deceitful facilities as Computer-Based Test centres in certain locations, among other factors.
The examination body apologised to prospective UTME candidates and other stakeholders for any inconvenience caused by the adjustments, assuring them of a seamless registration process.
“These adjustments come in light of the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as submitted to the Board by the Council for Legal Education.
“Additionally, the Board discovered that some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres had used deceptive facilities to gain approval, prompting the need for further scrutiny and corrections by disapproving such centres.
“The Board acknowledges the disruption this may cause to candidates and other stakeholders and sincerely apologises for any inconvenience.
“The additional time will be used to ensure that all necessary changes are made for a smooth registration process,” the statement partly read.
The Informant247 had on Wednesday reported that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board announced the suspension of the Law programme in eight universities.

Fabian Benjamin, the JAMB spokesman, while announcing the development in a statement on Wednesday, said the decision was taken following the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws programme by the Council of Legal Education for the 2025/2026 academic session at the said universities.
The affected universities are Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State, Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State, Redeemers University, Ede, Osun State, Western Delta University, Oghara, and Delta State.
Others include Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State, Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State, and the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State.
The statement clarified that the suspension of the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, would last for two academic sessions: specifically, the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.
“As a result, JAMB will not approve any admissions for candidates seeking to enrol in the Law programme at the aforementioned universities for the 2025/2026 academic session.
“Furthermore, the ban on registration for the Law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend into the 2026/2027 academic session”, the statement concluded.
Additionally, the examination body unveiled The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba as the recommended reading text for the 2025 UTME Use of English paper.
