IPNA, LMU provide free medical outreach to people of Igbomina land
In order to complement the efforts of the Kwara State Government in providing affordable, and quality health care services for indigent people, the Igbomina Peoples Network America, IPNA, and Landmark University, Omu-Aran, LMU provided medical outreach to the people of Igbomina land on Saturday.
During the 2021 occasion of the Igbomina Day Festival at St. Michael Primary School, Omupo, Kwara State, the humanitarian group, IPNA and Landmark University provided free medical services for people of Igbomina land who could not afford quality health services.
The IPNA started the free medical outreach in 2017. In 2018, Landmark University, Omuaran started a collaboration with IPNA in providing humanitarian services for the people of Igbomina land.
The IPNA/LMU’s medical team, comprised of volunteers and medical staff of LMU, who provided free medical services to people of Igbomina ranging from general consultations, malaria diagnosis & treatment, counselling services, breast cancer screening, ultrasonography, diabetes care and counselling, hypertension, tuberculosis screening, COVID-19 testing, medical ambulances for emergency, and donation of medical devices and items such as walkers, crutches, water bottles, etc.
A statement by the organizers said: “As a public-spirited association of Igbomina descent, IPNA seeks and pursues humanitarian objectives, not limited to the following: Collection and redistribution of donated items to the needy. Some of these items include medical and hospital equipment, science and engineering equipment for schools and colleges in sub-Saharan Africa; Provision of mobile medical clinic services in collaboration with equally benevolent local organizations and community-based healthcare service providers in rural areas, where there are transportation challenges. Others include the provision of basic health screening, check-ups, educational materials as well reading glasses; Partnering with other organizations with similar objectives; and reaching out to the needy people in the public irrespective of race, color, sex or creed.

We are proud of their unwavering commitment to continuously maintaining the identity of Igbominaland and keeping us united as one big family with a rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba tribe.”
“We congratulate the host royal father, His Royal Highness, Oba Yakubu Buari, the Olomu of Omupo (Ilufemiloye II) for allowing this year Festival to hold for the second time in the ancient Igbomina community, Omupo. We also congratulate all our Royal Fathers from other ancient Igbomina communities for being a part of these epochal celebrations,” it stated.
IPNA felicitated with the entire sons and daughters of Igbomina land for turning out in droves to make this year’s cultural festival a huge success.
The association, however, thanked various volunteers for their altruistic efforts to serve humanity and make the 2021 medical outreach successful.
