Ilorin South council chairman, deputy buy N110m personal vehicles from LG allocations in 2025

The Ilorin South Local Government Area spent about N110 million on the purchase of executive vehicles for the chairman and his deputy in 2025, documents have shown.

The expenditure was contained in budgetary and project records obtained from the local government’s 2025 financial records.

A review of the documents revealed that N68,263,473 was earmarked under a project titled “Chairman Executive Car”, coded 23010105 (Purchase of Motor Vehicles).

The item was listed as a capital project funded from local government allocations for the year.

Also, the sum of N42,580,750 was approved for another vehicle purchase under the project name “Purchase of Speaker & Vice Chairman’s [Vehicles]”, also bearing the same project code 23010105.

This brought the total expenditure on the acquisition of vehicles for the council’s political leadership to N110,844,223.

Further analysis of the spending pattern indicates that the purchases were tied to the offices of the Local Government Chairman, Vice Chairman and the Legislative arm.
