‘Hooligan!’ ‘Fool!’ – Ezekwesili, senator in heated clash over Natasha’s harassment petition
A Senate committee hearing became heated as former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, and Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi engaged in a verbal exchange over a petition submitted by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
The confrontation happened during a session of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, where petitioner Zubairu Yakubu presented fresh allegations on behalf of Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Tensions rose when Yakubu tried to speak while the committee chairman, Neda Imaseun, was addressing the panel.
He was immediately asked to remain silent and turn off his microphone.
The situation worsened when Ezekwesili, who was supporting the petitioner along with legal counsel Abiola Akiode, attempted to make a point but was interrupted by Nwaebonyi, who was appearing as a witness for Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
In response, Ezekwesili told the senator to compose himself and stop making noise.
This angered Nwaebonyi, who fired back, saying she was a fool and questioning why she was addressing him in such a manner.
He went on to say that she was an insult to womanhood and should not be present at the hearing.
Ezekwesili, in turn, called him a hooligan, further aggravating the senator..
