Gunmen kidnap police officer in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has reacted to the kidnap of Abdulmumini Yusuf, an Assistant Superintendent of Police.

The police has confirmed the kidnap of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Abdulmumini Yusuf, who’s attached to the command.

The victim who was serving at the Area Command in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state was reportedly kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night.

Okasanmi Ajayi, the spokesperson of the state police command, has confirmed the incident to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday.

The spokesperson revealed that the police command has been working hard to secure the release of the kidnapped police officer.

Ajayi revealed that the reason for the kidnap of the police officer has not yet been ascertained, and reaffirmed the preparedness of the police command to save lives and property of the citizens.

Shola Muse, the Secretary of the Kwara State Community Policing Advisory Committee, has referred to the incident as frightening and worrisome.

Muse has encouraged the security agencies in the state to do more on the prevention and control of crime for the security of the citizens.

Reports have it that the police officer was trying to enter his house at Ogidi area of Ilorin metropolis when he was kidnapped on Tuesday night.
