Grand-Charity Youth Devt holds summit in Ilorin

A Non Governmental Organization, Grand Charity Youth Development on Saturday, 1st February held its inaugural programme in Ilorin, kwara state.

The programme which took place inside the Nigerian Bar Association Hall was kicked off with an opening prayer by Alhaji Salihu Gegele while the welcome address was delivered by the Director of the Association, Amb. Haleemah Gegele.

In her opening address, Amb. Haleemah who was a member of Nigerian Youth Parliament disclosed that the initiative was borne out of the need to build competencies, skills and ability of youth that they need to grow and flourish throughout their lifetime with an objective to give the youth moral, psychological, financial,medical and emotional succour.

She further identified areas of interest of the association to include: creation awareness of youth development; strengthening the cause of youth development initiatives; campaigning against gender based violence; promotion of woman development advocacy and prioritization of health assessment and medical outreach.

Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Audu Musa extolled the convener of the programme for putting up a wonderful initiative, admonishing youth that they do not need money to catalyse change and development in society.

In another segment of the programme, students from various public secondary schools in the state took turns to present speeches on the “roles of girl child in society.”

The commissioner for education, Hajia Ahmed Bisola Fatimah advised parents to train their children as they are the foundation of any nation.

The programme was attended by creme de la creme including: Hajia Ahmed Bisola Fatimah (commissioner for Education), Miss Joanna Kolo Nnazua (commissioner of Youth and Sports), Dr. Audu Musa (UN official), Dr. Bukola Shittu, DSP Ajayi Okesanmi (Kwara State Police Command’s PPRO) Dr. Mahafuz Adedimeji, Alhaji Salihu Gegele and other notable personalities.
