Govt frowns at low turnout on resumption day in Kwara schools

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, has expressed displeasure at the low turnouts of students on resumption day.

Hajia Sa’adatu who made the statement during her visit to some selected schools to monitor the schools’ resumption as well as inspect completed and ongoing projects in those schools.

According to a statement by the Press Secretary, Peter Amogbonjaye, stated that, Hajia Modibbo Kawu explaining that the present administration, under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, accorded priority to education to achieve the best for the students.

She charged the learners in all the schools across the State to have a change of attitude towards school resumption and warned them to stay clear of any social vices that might jeopardize their academic pursuits.

The surprise visit was well received by the staff and they commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for clearing the teachers’ promotion, reiterating that he has done so well for them.

She applauded the Managements and staff of GDSS, Adewole and St. Williams LGEA, who were holding staff meetings when she arrived at the schools, for their punctuality and dedication to duties, saying that it was impressive that they were all on ground.

The staff pleaded that the new minimum wage be implemented to help alleviate their present conditions.

The schools visited included Kwara State School for Special Needs, Ilorin; LGEA Schools A & B, Adeta; Government Day Senior Secondary (GDSS), Ilorin; GFD Junior Schools, Adewole; and St. William (RCM) LGEAA, Taiwo, Ilorin.
