Gov. Wike sets up committee to welcome president-elect Tinubu to Rivers

The Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike has put in place a committee that would welcome the president elect Senator Bola Tinubu to the state.

The Governor made this revelation while formalising the committee that will plan the inauguration of the governor elect, Siminalaye Fubara, and Deputy Governor-elect, Prof. Ngozi Odu.

The Informant247 recalls that Wike had made it known that Tinubu would be in the state to Commission a project — the Rumuola-Rumuokwuta flyover and Magistrate Court building in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state on May 3 and 4.

The Governor said the committee that would welcome the president elect to the state also comprises members of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC and the Social Democratic Party SDP in the state.

Wike while addressing the planning committee for the inauguration of the newly elected leaders of the state, said: “This is not a party affair, but a state affair. So, the committee is made up of all shades of opinion. In fact, our state has the largest number of such committees bearing in mind how our state is. The inauguration committee is just to prepare for the swearing-in of the governor and deputy governor-elect. It is therefore not automatic that you become a cabinet member because you are a member of the inauguration committee.”
