Four truck drivers abducted in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command have confirmed the abduction of four truck drivers in Kwara state.
The incident occurred on a farm on the outskirt of Ilorin, the state capital.
Police command said that the victims were abducted by gunmen allegedly dressed in military uniform at a site where they went to collect Sand which they wanted to supply to their customers last Saturday.
The sources said that the four abductees were members of the Oyun garage branch of the Association of Quarry and Sand dealers, Ilorin.
The kidnappers, who later contacted their families, placed a ransom of N5m on each of the four drivers.
It was gathered that wives of the drivers on Wednesday in Oyun area of Sango-Kwara state Polytechnic road, Ilorin solicited alms from commuters and passersby to raise money to meet the N20m ransom demand of the kidnappers.
One of the women, Aishat who claimed to be a wife of one of the drivers, said that they took to begging to raise money to meet the ransom demanded by the Kidnappers, while appealing to philanthropists and public-spirited people to assist them so that their husbands would be free from the den of the kidnappers.
However, Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident, while saying that the Command was on top of the situation.
