Four reps defect from PDP, LP to APC amid internal crises
Four members of the House of Representatives on Wednesday formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal crises in their former political parties.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced the defections during plenary after reading letters submitted by the lawmakers.
Those who moved from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress include Inuwa Garuba, representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State; Abdullahi El-Rasheed, representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State; and Mohammed Audu, who represents Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency.
Also, Obika Chinedu, the lawmaker representing Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, defected from the Labour Party to the APC.
In a related development, Adewale Adebayo, who represents Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State, also announced his defection from the PDP to the Accord.
According to the letters read on the floor of the House, the lawmakers said persistent internal crises and divisions within their former parties influenced their decision to leave.
