First Kuliyan of Ilorin, Yusuf Ali, receives surprise media tribute from Mr. Nigeria during historic thanksgiving at Emir’s palace
The Publisher of Kwara People and NIMMA INT’L Magazines, Hon. Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli, popularly known as Mr. Nigeria, sponsored a surprise media package and side attractions to honor the first-ever Kuliyan Ngeri of Ilorin, Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN.
This gesture was made during a thanksgiving visit paid to the Emir of Ilorin at his palace on October 2, 2024.
Hon. Alli, a former Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Ilorin West Local Government, and author of the biography ‘Nma: An Epitome of Royalty’, dedicated to the Emir’s mother, said it was necessary to continue appreciating the support Prof. Ali has shown him, particularly as Prof. Ali has agreed to chair the upcoming launch of his biography.
Hon. Alli expressed his gratitude, saying, “Prof. Ali has been instrumental in my career, especially in my literary pursuits, and this surprise is just a token of my appreciation for his unwavering support.”
During the event, Hon. Alli also led the Informant247 media crew to conduct interviews with several distinguished guests who attended the thanksgiving.
These guests, representing different walks of life, expressed their admiration for Prof. Ali and his contributions.
Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, had earlier been conferred as the first Kuliyan Ngeri of Ilorin, a title marking his loyalty and service to the royal house and the community.
Reflecting on the honor, Prof. Ali shared, “The Emir highlighted my loyalty, trustworthiness, and my usefulness to the world. These qualities, as noted by His Royal Highness, likely contributed to my conferment.”
He also gave advice to those looking up to him, urging them to trust in Allah for guidance, stating, “I pray that I do not let anyone down. For anyone aspiring to be like me, you need Allah’s guidance, a kind heart, and to pray that your efforts are accepted by others.”
Prof. Ali, the Kuliyan of Ilorin expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Alli, saying, “I have known Mr. Nigeria since he was much younger. His drive, vision, and determination have always impressed me.”
The thanksgiving ceremony, attended by family, friends, and notable personalities from across Nigeria, was a reflection of Prof. Ali’s wide-reaching influence.
Among the dignitaries present were the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Alhaji Saka Issa; the Ekun Odo Agbara of Owo Kingdom, Jamiu Jimoh Afolabi; and Alhaja Muslimat Olayemi, along with several others.
In an interview, Alhaji Saka Issa praised the Kuliyan of Ilorin, describing him as a generous and reasonable man, urging him to continue doing good.
Alhaja Muslimat Olayemi, a relative, expressed joy over the occasion and prayed for Prof. Ali’s long life and continued success.
The Ekun Odo Agbara of Owo Kingdom, Jamiu Jimoh Afolabi, highlighted Prof. Ali’s over 50-year friendship, calling it “a relationship that has stood the test of time.”
He added, “For him to be identified by the Emir of Ilorin is the ultimate achievement.”
Dr. Shehu Sambo, an eyewitness at Prof. Ali’s conferment, echoed similar sentiments, noting that Prof. Ali’s philanthropy and community contributions had earned him the recognition of the Emir.
“His humility and generosity to both the rich and poor are what make him truly deserving of this honor,” he said.
The event was a blend of cultural significance and personal tributes, with guests celebrating the achievements of Prof. Yusuf Olaolu Ali, the new Kuliyan Ngeri of Ilorin, a title which solidifies his legacy within the Ilorin community.
