Fire razes residential building in Offa
A building of eight rooms and two shops has been gutted by fire in Offa, Kwara State.
The cause of the fire outbreak, which occurred on Monday, was attributed to an electrical power surge.
The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the incident happened at Isale Ago, Olu-Olo’s compound in Offa.
He said the fire was put out by the efforts of the fire service, thereby preventing it from spreading to other buildings.
Adekunle said the inferno destroyed the building roof and many valuable properties.
He said, “The fire had really engulfed the whole building before the State Fire Service arrived, as a result of late calling. Yet, we were able to eliminate the fire and prevent it from further spreading to the adjacent buildings.”
