Fire guts buildings in Ilorin, Offa
A three bedroom flat has been gutted by fire at Irewolede Area, Ilorin.
The cause of the fire outbreak, which occurred on Sunday, was attributed to an electrical power surge.
The spokesperson for Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, said the incident happened at No 24 legislative quarters, Irewolede Area.
He said the fire was put out by the Fire Service, thereby preventing it from consuming the whole building.
He said, “It occurred around 16:55hrs today. The outbreak involved a building of three bedrooms flat and only one room was affected due to the quick intervention of the State Fire Service for the incident.”
Meanwhile, another fire, caused by electric spark, had earlier been put out by the state fire service in Offa.
Adenkule said, “The Brigade was summoned through a running call by one Mr Salami around 15:10hrs to the incident. Behind Olorunkuse House Igbonna Road, Offa, Kwara State.”
The fire service urged the general public to “always play safe while dealing with electricity”.
