Fire destroys residential building in Kwara
A four-bedroom flat on Monday engulfed by fire at No. 35, Orisunbare Community, Adjacent Omolowo Health Clinic and Maternity, Amoyo, Irepodun local government area of Kwara State.
It was gathered that the fire which was caused by a power surge, was esclated by the presence of numerous combustible materials within the flat.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the firefighters, upon arrival at the scene of the incident, successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.
“However, due to the delay in reporting, sitting room and three rooms were already severely affected before their arrival,” the statement added
The statement, however, quoted the director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, extending his sympathy to the victims, while also emphasizing the importance of adhering to fire safety measures to avoid such incidents in the future.
