Fire destroys properties worth millions in Jigawa villages
Properties worth millions of naira have been consumed by fire in Malamawar Dangoli, Karangi, and Kwalele villages, Kiyawa LGA of Jigawa State.
The inferno destroyed farm products, houses, livestock, animals, and other properties.
Firefighters and police operatives were mobilised to the affected scene to rescue the situation.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam said: “No loss of lives recorded so far, but some of the family members suspected to have run for their lives are missing.”
Ibrahim Abdullahi El-Y Gumel, The director, fire service of the state, disclosed that the burning of bamboo by unknown persons in the village triggered the fire.
He advised the people to desist from burning bushes and refuse centres that are not far from villages in dry season.
