FG to close down unregistered medical laboratories
The Minister of State for Health, Joseph Ekumankama, has said that the Federal Government would close down unregistered medical laboratories in Nigeria.
The Director of Press in the Ministry, Ahmed Chindaya, made this revelation has via a statement on Saturday.
This came after a courtesy visit by members of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, MLSCN, at the Ministry of Health Headquarters in Abuja, the country capital.
He revealed that policies would be put in place to foster smooth running of the affairs of the council.
“Policies would be formulated to help carry out their functions smoothly, geared towards achieving the mandate of Mr. President in the health sector.
“Henceforth, all laboratories must follow due process and ensure that they are registered with the MLSCN or risk being shut down as well”, he said.
He revealed that the management and the staff of the MLSCN should continue to discharge their statutory duties as expected.
