FG pledges to improve workers’ minimum wage

Mr. Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has reiterated that the Muhammadu Buhari lee administration is fully committed to improving the minimum wages of workers to boost the productivity in the country

Mustapha, who was the special guest of honour at the inauguration of Hassan Sumonus’ Court, said this on Monday in Abuja.

It was gathered that the Hassan Sumonu Court, a two-storey building, was built by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and named after Sumonu, its founding president.

The SGF said the Buhari administration was concerned about improving the welfare of public service and had paid the arrears of retired Nigeria Airways workers.

On the inauguration, he said the two-storey building was a delight for the NLC and all Nigerian workers.

“These achievements and legacies are for the Nigerian people. I commend outgoing NLC President Ayuba Wabba for delivering the edifice that will yield additional income to the congress,” he said.

In his welcome remarks, Wabba said the NLC built the edifice to show that the trade unions are not only known for agitation but for investment, while hailing the umbrella union’s working committees and the National Executive Council (NEC) for the efforts and collaboration that ensured the completion of the building.

However, some past and present labour leaders and government officials, including former NLC President Adams Ashiomohle, former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Emeka Wogu, attended the inauguration.
