Fagbemi re-elected Kwara APC Chairman, pledges to consolidate party’s gains

Prince Sunday Fagbemi, has been re-elected as the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State.

Fagbemi was affirmed for another term on Tuesday March 3, 2026, at the state congress which held at Arca centre arena in Ilorin, where party leaders and delegates returned him to office in what he described as a renewed mandate to strengthen the party’s hold on the state ahead of future elections.

In his acceptance speech, the APC chairman expressed gratitude to party members for the vote of confidence and acknowledged the support of President Bola Tinubu and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

He described his re-election as a call to deepen party unity and coordinate strategies to sustain the APC’s developmental agenda in the state, promised to consolidate on the developmental strides and democratic gains recorded under the current administration.

“I take this privilege as a new assignment to consolidate the development and democratic hold of our party on Kwara State in the coming elections,” Fagbemi said.

Highlighting the achievements of the AbdulRazaq-led administration, the chairman noted that over 586 kilometres of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated across the state in the last six years, with hundreds of kilometres already completed and others at various stages of completion. He described the feat as unprecedented in the state’s history.

Fagbemi also pointed to the recruitment of 8,912 teachers, the implementation of improved welfare packages for civil servants, including minimum wage adjustments and promotions, as well as reforms in the health sector.

According to him, the administration now boasts one of the lowest infant mortality rates in Nigeria and the best primary healthcare system in the North Central region.

He further commended the state government’s social security initiative, which provides a N50,000 stipend to 10,000 senior citizens, and praised ongoing efforts to strengthen security across the state.

While acknowledging prevailing national security challenges, Fagbemi assured residents that the party and government remain committed to tackling criminality and ensuring peace.

He also lauded President Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying they have repositioned the economy and freed up resources for development.

The re-elected chairman called on party members to remain united and adhere to democratic principles, especially as preparations begin toward the 2027 general elections.

He urged aspirants for elective positions to exercise restraint and maintain loyalty to party leadership.

Fagbemi expressed optimism that APC would secure another overwhelming victory in 2027 and promised that his executive would work tirelessly to consolidate on the party’s achievements and sustain progress across Kwara State.
