A lecturer from the Arabic Department, University of Ilorin, Dr. Mahmud Danjuma Musa has advised Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahya Seriki to ensure that people who are following him do so without compulsion.
The Unilorin Don gave this advice while speaking during the 6th Annual Ramadan Lecture of Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahya Seriki Foundation at his residence in Awolowo Road, Tanke, Ilorin.
Present at the event are; the APC Caretaker Chairman in Kwara State, Abdullahi Samari, Kwara State House of Assembly members, Ilorin West, East, South TIC Chairmen, Comrade Musbau Esinrogunjo, APC Zango ward, APC Ilorin West, East and ASA vice Chairman, Ilorin East, and many other dignitaries.
The lecturer who spoke on the theme ‘Peaceful coexistence: A panacea for good governance, said peaceful coexistence is the only thing that can allow the political leaders to deliver well on their governance.
He explained what those at the helm of affairs need to know about peaceful coexistence.
Musa said, “You must ensure peace among those with you. You should ensure people follow you by conviction, not compulsion. Also, ensure you extend your good deed to the poor masses. Find a job for the son and daughter of a common man. Make sure you provide food security for the people.
“Learn to tolerate others who joined you in the struggle. Always ignore whatever people might do to you or say about you. Always take good care of those people working under you.
“Be Compassionate; whatever happens to those people around you, should always bother you the most. When choosing those to represent the people, ensure you choose among those that struggle together with you and not the people who do not participate in the struggle. Be humble to those that are working with you. Always assist those following you and remember they also have a family to cater for.
“If you do all these, it will reduce the level of poverty in our society and as well reduce the rate of Insecurity in the country.”
For his part, the Grand Mukadam, Sheikh Sulyman Dan Boronu, charges Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahya Seriki to focus more on helping the less privileged and the indigent people in the society.
Dan Boronu posited that there is always a reward for doing good and helping poor people.
Dr. Mahmud however urged the people of Ilorin East to give Ambassador Yahya Seriki and his party APC the needed support and ensure they are united in order for them to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
