English clubs top January transfer spending index
FIFA has revealed that English clubs are the highest spender of most money globally during a record-breaking January transfer window.
A record of £1.29billion was expended on transfer fees internationally last month, with 57.3 per cent of that transaction coming from England.
The worldwide total exceeds the previous highest for a January window, in 2018, by £189.3million.
This figure comprises 4,728 transfers across the men’s and women’s games internationally.
It was also the highest since FIFA launched its ‘transfer matching system’ to record deals in 2010.
