Ekiti LG Chair, Sen. Ajibola clash over LG revenue collection

*As hoodlums attacks APC women leader

The executive Chairman of Ekiti local government area of Kwara State, Com. Yinka Dallas and the former Senator representing Kwara South at the red chambers of the National Assembly are at logger heads over revenue collection in the LG, this medium has gathered.

According to an impeccable source, who confided in this medium, he described the clash as a furtherance of the struggle for the political life of Isapa where both warring politicians hail from, stressing that Ajibola while serving as Senator “planted his cronies as the LG revenue agent.

“When Yinka Dallas assumed office and got wind of the swindling of the LG through revenue collection without remittance to the LG’s account, he reorganised the revenue board of the LG, which affected loyalties of Ajibola who were living large on the revenue at the expense of the council” she stressed.

Findings by our correspondent showed that Sen. Ajibola who was in Isapa on Thursday held a meeting with some of the affected loyalist and I plan was hatched to resist the move with all means possible.

However according to police sources, the relieved revenue collectors took to the road on Sunday to extort commuters transporting farm produces thereby extorting them, while they also seizing farm produce like yams among others.

He said “we received distress calls that some people we illegally collecting tax from commuters and forcefully taking possession of wares, we swung into action and apprehended some of the suspects, we also seized some rubbers of yams from them and they were taking to Osi police command” he narrated.

However the clash took a violent turn on Monday as suspected hoodlums allegedly loyal to the Sen. Ajibola attacked the home of the APC zonal woman leader Elizabeth Isapa, vandalising and looting her properties.

All attempts to speak with the victim and the Police Public Relations Officer proved abortive as numerous calls put across to them were unanswered as at the time of filing this report.
