Dele-Bashiru the Hero as Super Eagles beat Libya 1-0 in AFCON qualifiers

Nigeria Super Eagles on Friday secured a vital 1-0 win over Libya National team in the AFCON qualifiers match played at Goodwill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo .

Fisayo Dele-Bashir’s lone goal was the difference as Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated the hardfighting Libya to maintain their perfect run in the qualifying series.

The Lazio midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru who in the 74th minute came on as replacement for Fulham’s Alex Iwobi scored in the 87th minute to dent the visitors’ aim of sharing the spoil with the hosts.

With the victory, Nigeria leads Group D with seven points scoring four goals with the only clean slate of the group.

Benin Republic are second on the log under the tutelage of the former Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr has six points scoring five goals and conceding four.

Rwanda is still 3rd with two points scoring one goal and conceding four while Libya stays down with one point scoring two goals and conceding four.

Eagles will fly to Benghazi to take on the Knights at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium, 19 kilometres away from Benghazi on Tuesday, 15th October as they hope to secure a double win over the Libyan team
