DEEP: Gobir Foundation to train, empower youth in Kwara
Ten young Kwarans will be trained and empowered by Gobir Organization Foundation through the organization’s new initiative tagged ‘De-radicalization, Education and Empowerment Programme (DEEP), the Foundation’s Chief Press Secretary, AbdulWahab Tajudeen in a statement on Friday, 26 February 2021.
The 3-month training will commence on Monday, 1st March 2021, at the Entrepreneurship Development Centre of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, and beneficiaries will have access to funds and equipment at the end of the training, Tajudeen’s statement added.
The Foundation owned by a prominent Kwaran, Waziri Yakubu Gobir, has since its inception recorded great feats in human capital development.
Tajudeen, in an opinion article earlier published by this medium, described DEEP as an initiative meant for “at-risk” youths, targeted at taking reckless youths off the streets.
He, in the article, said, “As the Press Secretary of the Gobir Organization Foundation, I had the opportunity to meet with some of these at-risk youth during the selection process. Their individual stories are touching. Personally, this experience has changed my perspective on life, and I am more grateful for what Allah has done for me.”
Meanwhile, speaking on this initiative, one of the beneficiaries, Kazeem Hanafi, said: “I cannot express my joy in words and I will continue to be indebted to the Foundation and its Chairman for the opportunity given to him.”
Other beneficiaries are Yusuf Fawas Yaro, Soliu Ramat Opeyemi, Sharafadeen Fatimah, Haruna Musa Omotolani, Husamat Abdullahi Hamzat, Shamsudeen Gobir, Sulyman Taofeeqat, Oyeyemi Amos, and Sharafadeen Salaudeen.
