Days after dumping PDP, Delta Senator Ned Nwoko defects to APC
Barely a week after dumping his boyhood party, Senator Ned Munir Nwoko on Wednesday formally announced his defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on the floor of the Senate.
Nwoko, elected into the Senate in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had on Friday, January 31, 2025, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deep divisions and factional crises within the party.

Nwoko, in a letter dated Thursday, January 30, and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 8, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, expressed disappointment over the current state of the party, which he said had made it challenging to foster unity and serve the interests of the people.
However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio read Nwoko’s letter of defection to APC during plenary.
In the letter, Nwoko attributed his action to the crisis rocking the PDP in Delta State.
