COVID-19: Kwara sets 101 inmates free
Following the ongoing attempt to decongest the custodial centres nationwide, the Kwara State Government has facilitated the release of 96 inmates from the various custodial centres in the state .
83 of the total inmates who benefited from the governor’s executive order were released outrightly.
Sentences of 2 inmate were also reduced from ten years to eight years while 16 condemned inmates were reduced to life imprisonment.
The Comptroller of Correctional Service, Kwara State Command, Adebisi Francis, while speaking with THE INFORMANT247 correspondent, urged the freed inmates shun criminal acts that may land them in jail again.
Francis appreciated the governor for giving the freed inmates palliative that will aide their incorporation into the society.
