COVID-19: Kano govt orders shutdown of schools
Kano state government, on Tuesday, shut down private and public schools in the state.
The state commissioner of Education, Muhammad Sanusi Kiru in a statement said Governor Abdullahi Ganduje gave the nod for the closure.
He said parents whose children are in boarding schools are to also arrange and convey their children and wards back home from today (Wednesday) December 16, 2020, adding that all inconveniences are regretted.
The statement was silent on the reason for the closure, but Daily Trust reported it may not be unconnected to the resurgence of COVID-19 being witnessed across the state.
THE INFORMANT247 had December 15 reported that Kaduna state governor Nasir el-Rufai ordered the closure of all schools following rise in new cases of COVID-19 in the state.
