Court sentences trader to 7 days imprisonment for stealing bundles of zinc

Sani Mohammed, a 32-year- old trader, has been sentenced to seven days imprisonment by a court in Jos for stealing bundles of zinc.

Mohammed was sentenced by a panel of two magistrates, Adam Sadiq and Hyacinth without an option of fine.

The convict has pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court established that the judgment would serve as lesson to those who who would want to involve themselves in such criminal acts.

Insp Monday Dabit, the Prosecution Counsel, informed the court that the matter was reported on Sept.18 at the Rantya Police station by Mr Mohammed Yusuf who’s residing at Dadin kowa Jos.

The prosecutor explained that the convict invaded the house of the complainant and went away with bundles of zinc and Chaka plate before he was apprehended with them.

The prosecutor added that the offence, was in contravention of the provisions of Section 272 of Plateau Penal Code.
