Court orders final forfeiture of tractors, rickshaws from ex-gov’s aide Oyin-Zubair
Justice Haleema Saleeman of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has ordered the final forfeiture of two tractors and two auto rickshaws belonging to Kayode Oyin-Zubair, a former Special Assistant on Community Intervention to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The assets, valued at N57.4 million, will be forfeited to the Self Reliance Economic Advancement Programme (SEAP) in the state.
In her ruling on Thursday, July 24, 2025, Justice Saleeman dismissed Oyin-Zubair’s application seeking to overturn an earlier interim forfeiture order.
The court upheld the arguments presented by EFCC’s counsel, Mustapha Kaigama, stating that the assets were acquired through unlawful means.
Oyin-Zubair, who served as an Assistant to Governor AbdulRazaq from 2020 to 2023, had solicited SEAP’s assistance to finance the purchase of 100 auto rickshaws and 100 mini-buses for members of various transport unions.
However, investigations revealed that N72 million in repayments made by beneficiaries was diverted by Oyin-Zubair for personal use, leading to the acquisition of the tractors and rickshaws.
The EFCC was able to recover these illegally obtained assets from a warehouse along Fate Road in Ilorin and subsequently secured the interim forfeiture order.
