Court adjourns trial as Baba Ijesha request to change Initial Statement

The Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos State has on Thursday Dec. 2, 2021 adjourned the sexual assault trial of Popular Yoruba Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, professionally known as Baba Ijesha to December 15, 2021, following his request to change his initial statement.

Ijesha, On April 22, 2021, the Lagos State Police Command announced his arrest for alleged sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl in the care of Nigerian comedianne, Princess. He is being charged on six counts of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault.

Baba Ijesha, through his lawyer, Prince Kayode, requested that the court should strike out the statement that he gave at the Sabo Police Station when he was first arrested.

His counsel said the statement he gave at the Sabo Police Station is different from the one taken at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti. 
Baba Ijesha claimed to have given the statement under duress.
