Community hails Justice Lambo over school project

… names school after him

Lasinmi community in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State has lauded a retired Federal High Court Judge, Justice Lambo Akanbi Kawu for aiding the construction of a school project in the community.

The community of about 5,000 residents founded some 10 years ago had suffered lack of upper basic school, which prompted students to trek several kilometers to neighboring communities to access education. In a bid to end this, after several attempt to the state government proved abortive, the community embarked on the establishment of a school formerly named Lasinmi Model Junior Secondary School.

Speaking in a statement sent to this medium, the chairman of the community, Alhaji Salihu Bayo Alaro said Justice Lambo at first donated 4 plots of land to start the school project before he extended it to 24 plots during the process of construction.

He said, “I throw the whole glamorous honour to our amiable and good hearted philanthropist, Hon. Justice Lambo Akanbi Kawu (rtd) who willingly gave the whole 24 plots of land to the Lasinmi community Development Association (LCDA), to enable us meet the establishment requirement of the school. He further said that any other structural social amenities can be established on the said land for the benefit of the general public.”

He pointed out that the retired judge also donated huge funds during the process of construction of classroom blocks, saying that his support is “larger than one could imagine”.

“He has not only given us the 24 plots of land, he further took up the windows and door expenses, plastering and roofing of the structures and payment of workmanship that carried out the whole building.

“Justice Lambo also pledges to construct the drainage canal system around the school perimeter and also promised to construct the student and staff toilet. His assistance to Lasinmi community and the general public is highly commendable and that has been his hobbies. As much as no one can tell the number of students that will be trained in the school, may Allah continue to answer his every open and secret prayer,” Salihu said in the statement.

His huge contributions towards this course eventually led to the renaming of the school after him – now Lambo Akanbi Model Junior Secondary School, Salihu furthered.

He also hailed individuals who volunteered to render qualitative free teaching service to students in the school.

Salihu’s statement added that the school was officially commissioned by the Permanent Secretary of the Kwara State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Kemi Adeosun.
