Coalition: Nigeria is in safe hands under Tinubu – Ribadu
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, has reassured Nigerians of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering focus on steering the nation towards success, despite the formation of political coalitions opposing his administration.
During a statement on Wednesday, Ribadu urged citizens to ignore distractions, emphasizing, “The nation is in safe hands under Tinubu’s leadership.” He pointed out the President’s professional training abroad and the significant achievements of his administration over the past two years as a testament to his capability.
Ribadu’s statements came in light of remarks from the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, who shared that 146 out of 194 foreigners arrested for cyber and financial crimes have been successfully convicted.
“Last year, we arrested about 194 foreigners involved in various forms of financial crimes and activities detrimental to our economic development,” Olukoyede explained.
He added, “Today, I can tell you that we have succeeded in the prosecution and conviction of 146 of them. They will serve their jail terms and will be repatriated to their respective countries.”
Both officials spoke at the International Cybersecurity Conference held in Abuja, where Ribadu emphasized the government’s commitment to economic recovery and making Nigeria an attractive destination for Foreign Direct Investments (FDI).
He outlined steps taken to tackle challenges such as insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping, assuring attendees that these issues would soon be addressed.
Ribadu called on the international community and investors to feel secure in Nigeria, stating, “We are a family, you in the private sector, we in the public sector. We are one. Let’s work towards improvement for all of us.
”He urged collaboration, saying, “Together we are building a safer, more resilient digital Nigeria. Every citizen has a role to play. We must move beyond awareness to action, beyond policy to implementation.”
In his address, the Director General of NITDA, Malam Kashifu Inuwa, explained that the Cybersecurity Conference aims to promote digital inclusion and resilience against cyber threats, noting a significant shortage of cybersecurity professionals in the country. “We have a deficit of over 250,000 cybersecurity professionals today,” he said.
