CAC launches AI-powered portal to revolutionise business registration
The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has officially launched a pilot Artificial Intelligence-powered registration portal, aimed at transforming the current process for company registration.
This announcement was made by the Registrar-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji, during the 2025 Stakeholders’ Forum meeting.
Magaji described the initiative as a “game-changer,” highlighting its potential to significantly reduce registration timelines and improve the ease of doing business across the nation.
He stated, “It is intelligently designed to suggest available alternatives and grant real-time approvals, removing the traditional bottlenecks.”
A standout feature of the new portal is its capability to facilitate business registration using only the National Identification Number (NIN) of a director or proprietor.
Once real-time NIN verification is completed successfully, a certificate of incorporation is generated and delivered to the applicant’s email within just 30 minutes.
“The target time for business registration is under 30 minutes to generate a certificate and deliver to the customer’s email, subject to real-time NIN verification,” added Magaji.
While acknowledging the possibility of delays due to external validations from the National Identity Management Commission, he assured attendees that a contingency plan has been built into the platform. This includes AI-powered photo ID matching to help overcome potential hiccups.
Furthermore, the Commission is set to introduce a two-factor authentication system with One-Time Password (OTP) verification for all transactions. Magaji emphasized, “This will ensure no changes can be made to company records without the explicit knowledge and consent of the registered directors.”
Looking to the future, he also announced plans for a CAC mobile application, expected to launch in the final quarter of 2025. This app will provide users with the ability to track and manage their transactions conveniently.
On the topic of new partnerships, the Registrar-General revealed that the Commission is reviewing over 100 requests from local and international super agents, which includes collaborations with the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement System aimed at enhancing access and streamlining services.
Magaji, however, stated that the Commission would revise its service fees starting August 1, 2025, to ensure continued service quality and support ongoing reforms. Goodwill messages were delivered by esteemed attendees, including Cordelia U. Eke, Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Port Harcourt Branch, and Elder Dogala Sakpege, Chairman of the Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.
A dedicated CAC technical team was present to address customer complaints and offer immediate solutions to registration challenges during the event.
