Buhari celebrates Tinubu’s 73rd birthday, highlights shared vision for Nigeria
Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, in a telephone conversation, marked President Bola Tinubu’s 73rd, celebrating their enduring political bond. During the conversation on Friday, Buhari expressed his congratulations to Tinubu’s family and the nation, wishing the president continued good health, long life, and a successful administration.
“Praying for our leaders is, in essence, praying for ourselves and the nation. We owe this to our country,” Buhari stated, as quoted by Garba Shehu, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity.
Buhari reflected on the significant contributions of president Tinubu and other leaders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) who played a vital role in his own ascent to the presidency for two terms, emphasizing the importance of their partnership in establishing another APC administration led by Tinubu.
He said, “The historical narrative of our country would be incomplete without acknowledging President Tinubu’s numerous roles as an entrepreneur, party stalwart, activist, organizer, and a repeated victor in democratic elections. I am genuinely proud of my association with the Asiwaju.”
The former president also underscored the importance of the APC’s leadership change in 2015, describing it as a mandate to lay a foundation for a new Nigeria that provides better opportunities for all Nigerians, particularly the poor, while expressing satisfaction that this vision remains a guiding principle.
Buhari, however, extended his warm wishes to the president for a successful conclusion to the Ramadan fast and a joyful Sallah (Eid) celebration
