Bruno Labbadia reportedly rejects Super Eagles job over contractual issues

German Coach Bruno Labbadia has reportedly rejected an offer to coach the Super Eagles despite being announced a few days ago by the NFF.

Recall that the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) on Tuesday announced the appointment of the German tactician to lead the Super Eagles.

The 58-year-old former Bayern Munich player was expected to have his Baptism of fire with the three times AFCON champions when they faced Benin Republic and Rwanda in their AFCON 2025 qualifying double header game billed for September 7 and 10 respectively.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said in the early hours of Tuesday: “The NFF Executive Committee has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Head Coach of the Super Eagles. The appointment is with immediate effect.”

Things now seems to have gone south between the NFF and the German Coach who according to report has decided to turn his back on the job over wage issues

German tabloid Kicker reported that “Labbadia has halt talks with Nigeria after contract negotiations stalled (despite already announcing him as manager).”

The NFF have now come under fire for a announcing the coach without sealing the negotiation. It now remains unclear who will lead the Super Eagles to their Morocco 2025 AFCON qualifiers game against Benin Republic and Rwanda
