Breaking: One killed as herdsmen attack farmers in Kwara community
One person was reported to have been killed on Sunday evening as armed herdsmen attack farmers in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent on the telephone that they were in the farm at Lata Nna village in Patigi Local Government Area when armed herdsmen on motorcycles came and forced them out of the farm, injuring two in the process.
“Yesterday, around 6pm in the evening, they came with guns and scores of other dangerous weapons. Two farmers were injured, one of the injured died on getting to the UITH while the other is still receiving treatment,” he narrated.
Meanwhile, another local source told THE INFORMANT247 that the suspected herdsmen have returned to the village in large numbers laid a siege this morning (Monday), shooting from house to house.
The casualties is yet to be independently verified as at the time of filling this report.
The Kwara Police spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the attack.
He said, “The Commissioner of Police has dispatched operatives to the affected community. We are currently on top of the situation and restoring peace to the community.”
