Breaking: Hilda Baci breaks Guinness World Record, surpasses previous cooking marathon record holder
Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, on Monday surpassed the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”.
The Informant247 gathered that Hilda Baci smashed the 87 hours 45 minutes record set by now-former Guinness World Record holder, Lata Tondon.
If certified by the Guinness World Record, Hilda will be displacing the current world record holder, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who achieved the feat in 2019 with 87 hours 45 minutes record uninterrupted cooking.
The restaurateur began the competition on Thursday after she turned on her cooker at 4pm and surpassed the current world record holder on Monday morning.
Hilda carries on despite having broken the record as she aims to cook for 96 hours, setting a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such an amount of time cooking.
Baci’s cooking marathon is currently ongoing at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State.
Meanwhile, the record breaker has continued to receive a wave of support from government officials, celebrities, clerics, and other well-meaning Nigerians.
The chef won the maiden edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, pocketing a grand prize of $5000.
